Alright I admit this is probably not the first band that anyone would expect me to like, but between their crazy costumes, amazing performances, and pop funk psychedelic style I am very hung up on them. They have been the background music to my friend group for the last year and half. I specifically remember breaking out into random dance parties to this song with my friends.
I have seen of Montreal twice before now. The first time was at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta with Janelle Monàe. It was the first concert I had ever been to with my group of art fag coffeehouse friends. It was amazing. The second time we went to celebrate graduation and it just so happened to be the same day as the supposed “rapture”. We knew that no one from that concert was leaving with all of that promiscuous dancing Kevin Barnes was doing.
And now…I am going to see them with Kishi Bashi (who I am thrilled to see) and Wild Moccasins at the Georgia Theater tomorrow night in Athens. This will mark the release of their new album, Paralytic Stalks. Here’s to a great band, with all their quirks!
